Try different crops and adjusting the exposure/saturation and see what you come up with. The way it is just doesn't do alot for me. But lets see what you can do in PS :-)

Humble indeed, Petkal! Good concept, try lining up the horizontals and verticals, and move the lower edge of the fence and the main subject so that it satisifes the rule of thirds.

I agree with everything BB has commented. I see some potential in this idea. I think a bit of post processing would also benefit a bit since it looks a bit flat, since you avoid using any of that would you be opposed to cranking up the contrast using your on camera menu perhaps? I think a good amount more contrast would definately help a bit here, as well as stopping down a bit since it seems a tiny bit underexposed.
Nonetheless I see some good ideas here, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this (and I'm still waiting to see where you're going to take that storefront project ;) ).
Thanks for sharing

You could go back and take another shot and then next year return and take another shot and have the three mounted together. It would be a nice visual essay on the cycle of birth and death and rebirth.

Thanx for your suggestion laddy, perhaps I should get miself a goat to chomp on those weeds while I'm shooting......that would be a poignant reminder to the planet that goat cheese is a healthy alternative to ice cream.

Am I missing something? Looks like weeds against a fence to me.

Yes, that's what it looked to me too. However, It appears Condyk of Wessex suggests I turn the idea into a new BBC sitcom along the lines of "Faulty Towers" or 'On the Buses" (Now I am really dating m'self !)

i like it simple sharp something what we would walk past put into a photograph to make us see it different, just line the image up with the rotation tool, and crop that first dent to the right side or you can crop it tight depending what mood you feel in. Then its A+to print in my eyes :D. I would like to see the PP, and cropped image version.

Thanx Tlee, your suggestions are good...one needs to be so careful with framing and perspective, and yet one should not lose that spontaneity.....

I thought it was an old shed... see all the nails or screws along the bottom?
I could be wrong though.

Ahhhh......the sharp eye of Waldo.....indeed it's an old shed-like building....most people see a fence.....in the end, it is in the eye of the viewer.
