I recently bought a D10 and am not happy with the quality of the photos I've taken to date. I currently have a 28-90mm f/4-5.6 II USM, and a 24mm f/2.8. I'm looking into either a couple of fixed focal lenses (20mm, 50mm?) or the 17-40mm L lens. I've heard good and bad things about the 17-40. I'd use it as a general purpose lense with a 550EX flash for inside shots. I'd like to stick with Canon lenses. Can anyone give me any advice?

P.S. The 70-200 f/4 is already on my list. I'm on the fence about getting the 100mm Macro USM.

Thanks,
Bill

You'll never be sorry about buying the 100mm Macro it's a really great lens. The 50mm 1.8 mkII is a great lens it's super sharp and it's one of, if not the cheapest lens they make. I am a primes guy but the canon 24-70 f2.8L is the best zoom available in that range. I own the canon 24-70 2.8L and it is awesome! The 17-40 f4L is good lens, it doe have some softness issues but it is great for it's price. here's a good review to read. http://luminous-landscape.com/reviews/lenses/canon-17-40.shtml

Good luck to you.
