I bet he never thought in his life that taking photos could give him the opportunity to hold such a prestigious trophy. Look were photography can take you!

I'm glad Winnipeg has a team again, but to think the Cup will be making an appearance in this franchise's near future... I'm sure someone can prescribe you something for that!

Whilst I think that it is good to see you Americans / Canadians get excited about something ... will someone please explain WHY you are getting excited about a photograph of what must be the most butt-ugly trophy I have ever seen?

Can I have a chorus of USA, USA, USA .... :)

It was named after the 16th Earl of Derby!!! And you claim to hail from the UK!

Oh ... my bad.

A Google search tells me that this is the Stanley Cup and that it is a big Hockey cup.

Why oh why would you name a hockey cup after a British Earl though !!! that just does not make sense. Hockey is definately a minority sport over here, I have been to one match in Manchester although in my defense I was with a crazy Canadian hockey fan.

I still stand by my statement that it is one damned ugly cup though.

Sorry all, but Detroit will add their name to the cup for the 12th time this year. My jersey made its way out of the closet a few weeks ago to get ready for the upcoming season!

BTW...did anyone hear about a change in the net size during pre season?

I think the recently discussed changes have more to do with net depth than width x height... basically the shrinkage by 4 inches from the back would open up more room behind the net

The Cup is very fragile.......it shouldn't be moved from where it is now!!! Go Bruins!

You'd have to be a huge hockey fan to understand. I dont consider the cup butt ugly.

Ron Maclean was in town tonight....I knew when a buddy (him, Ron Maclean & Brad Richards are great friends) of mine asked for tickets to the local game that something was up.

no Caps player is from DC, so the Cup would spend a day or 2 in DC, and the rest of the summer with the players around the globe!
