I was wondering were i could get some information on how to pose people for portraits, like rules of composition. Such as how to angle people and things along that subject. Are their any good online resources to help me with this?

Have a look here: http://www.dg28.com/technique.html
You will find info on the technical apsects of lighting the portrait as well - if you look through each of the examples, you will see a wide variety of posing techniques.

If you want to learn how the old pro does it, do a web search for "Joe Zeltsman."
