Saw this rather strange and heavy looking piece of kit in the Blacksmiths qtr at a local museum.

Do I take it two ppl lift this, as it is now, and simply swing it from knee height into whatever needs hitting?

Only, you'd never get that above your head would you?

I'll leave you to decide...

Dan, What an oddity this monster sledge is. Gives new meaning to being called a "Double" Jack. I asked in another one of your posts if you were finding this stuff in a museum. I see you are. ;) More interesting old equipment. :D

Most definately Bruce, this was shot down by the steel works, nr to the loading of the canal boats to transport the goods made.

Got a shot of a huge anchor somewhere, will find it out ;)

Hope you like my work :)

Strange indeed. How is this tool handled? By two people? I like the way you used selective desaturation in this pic, quite subtle.

Well I'm not entirely sure my friend, I was merely taking an educated guess.

Looking at it, you would require 2 persons, but the method of swinging can only be minimal...hence why I suggested it only gets swung back to knee height from the side then hit into something.

I could be completely wrong ofcourse hehe

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated
