Well, double timed it tonight... good thing is they were across the parking lot from each other. Both teams won their respective matches. I remember reading a reply in a post by a chap in a country where the ladies don't play sports... all I can say is they are really missing out. Cheers.

whats your set up for the volleyball games, i went tonite my skools game with a 10d and a 100-400L and i got nothing... i think the lens is way to slow for indoor stuff... i was shotting at iso800 f5 and my shutter speed never went over 1/125... are u using a 7-=200 2.8? by the way love the shots kick arse

Ok... Great shots, but it's not fair not telling us what and how you shot them.

Mark,
Very nice shots. Your timing on # 1 & 2 is excellant, great shots. The expression of the woman in focus (to the left of the ball) in # 2 almost matches the last one! Actually, I kinda like the last shot too - the kind of goofy expression no player would ever like to actually to know was captured. # 6, with the lone face peaking out of the crowd is also great, but I think I would crop it just a little bit more.

Hey all... okay - need to remember to add this stuff in original post. All shots were done with a 20D. I tried the 10D the night before, and let's just say experiment over....back to the 20D. The floor volleyball shots are all with a Canon 85 f1.8 shot wide open - ISO 800. The above shot (#3) was with a Sigma 120-300 f2.8 shot wide open at ISO 1600. All the soccer shots were shot the same - Sigma wide open ISO 1600. Hope this helps.

Excellent shots. I just picked up the 85 f1.8 for this specific reason. The f2.8's just are not up to the indoor vollyball. Well now our season is over so will have to wait a few weeks for basketball to start to test out the lens.

Fantastic images. That first volleyball shot is perfect! I love the expressions you've captured as well. Nicely done.

Quasi.... oh stop.... but thanks
Doc - I think you will love the lens over time. It just grows on ya. The game before this one I tried to go back to a 2.8, and even in these lights it still was just not as satisfying.
Liza and Keith - hey thanks.... rapidly falling in love with shooting this sport. Never a dull moment.

Thanks all....
drisley.... I can 't beleive you sold your 135L.... that's just not right! I got mine just a while ago... and its part of my 3 amigo - the big sigma zoom... the 85 I used for this, and the 135L I bought to do stage photography. Just couldn't beleive it.... any way, I am over it now... cheers and thanks.
