Lens problem

Hi Guys,

I've a Canon 20-80 lens I use on my D30 which has started getting a bit tight when I turn the coller to zoom. Is there anything I can do to ease it myself, or do I need it serviced by canon ?

I've had the lens from new and it's not been abused.

Should have mentioned I'm an ex-aircraft engineer and have worked in the electronics industry as a tech for many years, so I'm handy with small items.

and, yes, I noticed after I'd posted I'd spelled collar wrong.
