Have come across a Canon PowerShot S1 IS....camera only.... (doesnt even have batteries). Anybody know of a source for accessories enough to get this camera useable,.... figure I at least need the software.
I googled up a bunch of reviews, and this sounds like too good a camera to not try and ressurect it

Thanks in advance...

not sure what you would need except the batteries and a memory card. Lens is not removable so should be there. Perhaps the cable to transfer to computer and the canon photo software. Of course with a card reader you can do without the cable and move the pictures to a photoshop type program - so no need for canon software.
Then contact conon about a manual - possibly download it - possibly the photobert cheat sheet

Can't think of anything else to get started

Was hoping someone would say an aftermarket photo program should access the camera, I had sorta thought it would. Course the first order is to get batteries and the cable....Have found a couple places for plenty of info on operation of the camera, so that shouldnt be a problem, though the bad news was, NOTHING about any software substitutions.

Thanks........

Anyone else have any thoughts on using other photo software to access this camera??

As I mentioned earlier - get a card reader. I just got a Sandisk 8 in 1 for less than $20. Connects to USB port, downloads from the SD card, and does it really fast without using camera batteries. Then can move file to hard drive and use any photo software you have

Thanks a million,

Hi,

I am a Newbie to the forum.
I have a Canon Powershot A510. I forgot to take the pc software(windows) when I travelled abroad. Is there any chance that I can download the software from somewhere? I badly want Zoom browser Ex with the stiching software.

Thanks.

You can download the ZoomBrowser EX and camera drivers from here: http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=SupportDetailAct&fcategoryid=221&modelid=11086 (click "Drivers/Software")

I can highly recommend a program called picasa as an iphoto-like aftermarket image management program. Its free from Google (just search google for picasa) and it can connect to cameras or automatically download off the memory card. If you run Windows XP, when you plug in your memory card an option should come up to either view the folder or download pictures etc, and the picasa download manager is there so you can copy your pictures, optionally delete them, and manage them with it whenever you insert a memory card with images.

In XP, you can often see digital cameras in Windows Explorer once they're connected via USB, so you may be able to copy and paste the photos directly from there without the need for additional software.

If Zoombrowser is free to download from Canon however, then you might as well do that.

Hi I have tried, the canon link for driver. When I executed the TWAIN driver softwre, it popped up Windows XP file for TWAIN missing, exiting the installation.
The link gives only update for Zoom Browser.

Thanks for your replie
