So I went out with the new Digital Rebel XT today and tried to get used to everything. It was a terrible rainy windy gray day. I got some nice shots, but this one is definately one of my favorites of the day. I didn't see a flower all day then on the side of the road in a drainage ditch I caught this in my perif and decided to stop and get a few shots. What do you think?

It's kinda boring to me. The white line behind the flower looks out of place. Looks alittle big grainy too. I like that one in there with the red phone. It looks alittle grainy too, are you in 800 or 1600 iso setting?
But hey I am a newb too.

...out of focus, which takes away from the picture. It works sometimes, but I don't feel like it works here. I agree also that the white line looks out of the place.
I like the composition of the other photo with the red phone too. Again, though, I feel like the picture could have been better if the foreground was a little sharper. Nothing is in focus.

It's rather average, especially with the road in the background. It may be a good one if you're just starting in photography, but I"m sure you'll look back on it in 6 months (typical learning curve unless you shoot a lot) and smirk at it - maybe even end up deleting it. :)

Yeah, I went out today with no rain and spent some time taking more pictures. Those were really my first time out with a non P&S camera. After today I can already see how much I've learned. I'll try posting up more.
