To your attention, pictures taken from my recent trip with my daughter to a concert dedicated to a young listeners.
While my daughter was listening the music I was playing with my G6.
full zoom, ISO 200, no flash. I converted to
B&W, seems to me it's more suitable to that time of event ....

I LIKE IT!!! I can almost hear the music (Pytor Ilyich
Tchaikovsky???)...with that sturn look in the face...and the whole maiestro look...creates a mood. I also think B+W goes well.
One suggestion...it might look good with a crop...reduce some of the above head space (above the conductor) and take some of the bottom of the picture off as well...to create a more ladscape kinda feel (more of a panorama look). It just might look good...
Good job...:D

I like the b/w effect also.
How come no one looks like they are enjoying their work ?

You are right, that waw Tchaikovsky, part of the 1st simphony but played by Russian Folk Orchestra.

Very nice shots indeed. You did a very nice job of metering. Stage lighting with a dark background and a spotlight on the performers will practically overexpose every time with auto metering. Please excuse me but I have never used a G6. If you don't mind me asking, how did you meter for these pictures?
Thanks!

Thank you very much for your comment!
I am really happy that these pictures get that kind of attention!
I have noticed that with auto metering I am getting overexpose, I just did exposure compensation, usially -1 for all shots and then did some more correction while convering from RAW (to avoide overexposure red spots PS CS2 showed me in preview)
Exif for the last one (with a conductor talking to audience):
Exposure time 1/60 s
F-number f/3
Exposure program Normal program
ISO speed ratings 50
Shutter speed value 1/60 s
Aperture value f/3
Exposure bias value -1.00 EV
Max. aperture value f/3.1
Flash Flash did not fire.
Focal length 28.8 mm
And exif for second one:
Exposure time 1/30 s
F-number f/3.5
Exposure program Shutter priority
ISO speed ratings 200
Shutter speed value 1/30 s
Aperture value f/3.5
Exposure bias value -0.63 EV
Max. aperture value f/3.1
Flash Flash did not fire.
Focal length 28.8 mm

Thanks again for your posts. I just realized your from Moscow. (I guess I'm not so very observant for a photographer).
It's really wonderful that photographers from all over the world can share thoughts, ideas, and of course photos on this forum. We really are a global community.
By the way, your English is excellent. Were did you learn it so well?

Thank you all for your comments!
Really , the first intention to take these pictures was to understand if it was possible at all...
to do shots like these during the concert (low light conditions, no flash, high ISO), and the result is OK I think.
I am going to print some or that shots on size (15x20 cm) for the members of the orchestra (I know some of them) and probably for the conductor. What to see his reaction, if he'll like them or not. I have lots of different shots of his gestures ... I think it will be interesing for him.

About language...
Just happen to be working all my life for foreign companies, English speaking. All communication, written and spoken - in English ... so now I just do not know, if it possible for me at all, not knowing English, not be able to communicate easily it it.
I am also fun of reading in Enlgish, English literature .... that was acutally the first reason I started to learn the language.

Good captures.
They look great in B&W.
Yes, in colour, pictures have some color noise but in B&W, that grain just looks right I think.
