Just purchased an SD550 and plan to purchase a 1GB card. Will a standard SD card from a company like SanDisk be fine, or would this camera benefit from a higher speed card? If so, why? Thanks.

I'm finding standard SD cards (SanDisk and Lexar brands) just fine -- even for videos -- with my S2. Anything special you plan to do that might tax a standard-speed card's performance?

Don't plan on anything special. Just want to be able to take full advantage of the camera's features, including shooting videos at 30 fps and 60 fps.

I have an S2 also so can't say for sure if your SD550 is the same, but the manual states movie mode and continuous shooting needs a high-speed card to prevent it from pausing due to buffer overruns.

The Sandisk Ultra II cards have worked flawlessly for me in two different cameras over the past couple years. 1GB @ $89 inc. 2 day delivery from http://zipzoomfly.com
