I have had my 20D for a couple of months, but am no stranger to digital and 35 mm photography. I take a fair amount of indoor shots, and could see the limitations of the onboard flash of the 20D. I prefer to have my shots come out as good as possible as soon as I press the shutter, since I don't have the time to Photoshop everything.

So I have been pondering a shoe mount flash. After much reading of the threads on this board and others, I just bought a 580EX from B&H. It came down to a choice between the 580EX and the Sigma 500 Super. Since money is not that much of an issue for me, the better compatibility with all the Canon modes and a better build quality is what sold me.

I will be interested to see how this affects my indoor photography.

Have a play with bouncing the flash and diffusers, they can help you make even better photos :)
