I'm in the UK and have decided that it will take too long to save for a D10...god I might be dead by then.

A D30/D60 complete with lens and high capacity card would be nice. But any lightly used bodies appreciated.

Ginger Spice need not apply! :D

Very good idea! In fact D30 is the ideal way to start. Not much you will achieve with D60 except bigger print size. Now if you invest some money in software like Genuine Fractal, you can print 11 x 16 at ease or bigger.

10D has some improvements. Some of them, which appear quite significant to me is low noise at high ISO, greater responsiveness, 9 frame buffer and Adobe RGB. Low light focusing is helpful, but I do not depend on full automatic anything. Apart from that it is quite similar to D30.

I bought a 10D but returned it after a week. I am not swept over by 10D like many folks have so far. I am still very happy with my D30 and 11x16 prints using Genuine Fractal. I would save that money for next forthcoming model, which will be placed in between 1dD & 1D.

Wish you best of luck. Search in Photo.net. I have seen D30s are selling at $750 there. Do not know why folks are selling them in such hurry. D30 @ $750 It is a tremendous value for money, go for it and enjoy it for another 5 years.

Having got a 10D, I will almost certainly sell my D60 soon. I have collected many wonderful photos through my D60, but I cannot justify owning more than one expensive digital SLR camera body.

A couple of friends have expressed an interest in taking the D60. If they don't want it then it will be offerrred to anyone who wants it!

By the way, it is in excellent condition.

I'd consider selling my D30 but would like to get $850 for it. Like the others have said, most people can't tell the difference between a D30/60/10D shot posted on a website and 8x10's still look awesome from this camera. If your interested let me know but it just makes no sense right now to let a great body like that go for less.

Hi there,

Go for a D60, not a D30.

Also, I still prefer my D60 over MY 10D
(read, MY camera). I have shot more
the 30.000 picts with the D60 so I know
what I am talking about .....

The autofocus of the 10D is better (when
callibrated correctly) but the 'out of the
camera' pictures of the D60 are better.

Best wishes,

Jeroen

Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread.

I have tried to cut costs but it's an uphill task.

A guy on ebay bought a D10 from Hong Kong for
£1089 plus £35 shipping..he was also presented with a £140 import tax bill....

Total= £1264

The D10 is currently available for a few GBP cheaper from some UK mail order outlets. :-(

Parks are selling used D30s for £600 - nice little earner -
and D60s for £900...

Looks to me that dealers are getting around £300
mark-up on both.

I think I'll wait for the D10 to come down in price :)

Meanwhile my little P&S will have to do.....

Hi Fox 1, At the moment i am quite happy with my D30 & possibly the D10 will come down in price in time.
Just to think at the end of last year i extended the warranty on my D30 with Canon & the 2 years warranty cost £352 [although it is transferrable] ,more than it's [d30]worth now.
Next year there may be another upgrade so i will stay & see what happens, because of this i bought a G3 as a compact camera to back up my D30.It takes same batteries & c/f cards & software so it's easy to switch over.
One point about the D10, if i use the G3 on it's Super/Fine quality settings [4 mp] it eats c/f cards up like no ones business compared to the best settings on the D30,makes me wonder what a D10 does to a c/f card. All the best

Total= £1264? How much is that in real money? Euros or dollars or something.
