So there I was... hanging around an active Russian bomber base, so I thought I may as well take some pics ;)

yeah - sorry, should have said...
First pic shows line-up of Tu-160 Blackjacks, second panorama is mostly Tu-95 Bears, and for the eagle-eyed there are two An-26's and an Il-62!

I got some Backfires (Tu-22m) at Ryazan - I'll try and sort out the pics at the weekend!

LOL I was grinning like a village idiot the whole time! Access was fairly limited (as you can see from the guards!) but I didn't care!

That's an interesting location! I'm always amazed at the access some of our members get. ;)

We were told we wouldn't get access to the active base - but they changed their mind when we got to the museum! The museum is on the field, but over the brow of a very slight hill and far away enough to obscure the active part of the base. Unfortunately we didn't see any flying (other than a couple of Mil-8's hanging around).

Gawd. Just imagine how comprehensively dead you'd have been for taking those shots 20 years ago.

Comprehensively dead? You English have such a quaint language.
