Thanks for posting the examples! I've been meaning to post some samples with my Tiffen lenses as well, but it has been a busy week.
Well done!

I got the same set-up as you,but one thing I have found is that you can use the zoom to get even closer.Without the close-up lenses the zoom can't get you any closer, but with the close-up,zoom can get you closer and still remain in focus. This is a sample of a spider that is the size of a pea.

Hello tommy_t,
i have some questions that i need your advise...
1) What is the dist between the cam and your subject?
2) Did you stack up the filters (+17)?
3) Was macro mode on?
4) Was the cam zoomed all the way out to its max?
5) What was the aperture and f stops setting used?
May i know why did you decide to get the tiffen close-up filters over marco lens?
What do you think of the kenko marco lens?
I just got my adaptor and looking at marco lens to take marco shots of insects, but couldn't really decide between kenko marco lens and tiffen close-up filters...
Thanks alot for your help!

Hello, here are the settings...
Distance: appx. 2-3 inches
Filters: +10 +7 stacked
Shooting Mode: Auto
Macro: on
Shutter: 1/320s
Zoom: 17.5mm
Aperture: 4.3475
F-number: 4.5
I decided to get the Tiffen close-up lens because, at the time, it was the only one I could find that had +17. I did not know a macro lens was available. Kenko was my second choice. I am using a kenko polarizer and I like it.
Hope this helps.

I have a dumb question,. :)
Are these "filters" just standard threaded filters that would work to an extent with any camera? Or are they designed for your particular type of camera?
The pictures are amazing. I have no macro right now,. and am trying to decide what route to go.

These are 37mm thread filters mounted on a S30 via lens adapter.

Gents,
Have either of you used either the Canon Telephoto converter or other 3rd party lenses?
