I just got my D30 yesterday, but my Sandisk card reader just died. I will be getting the free battery and 1G microdrive from Canon, but that my be a month or so. What kind of card reader does everyone use that will read CF I and CFII Microdrive for under $100 - or should I just use Breezebrowser and pull right from the camera?

Comments and suggestions welcome.
Hope to post pictures soon.

I use the ZiO! from Microtech. It works fine. Cost me about USD30 when I was in San Francisco a few months ago.

You want Downloader from Breeze Systems as well as BreezeBrowser. Downloader has the added advantage that it free. :)

You could pull straight from the camera with Downloader, but a flash card is 2-3 times faster.

I wish I went that way...I was so darned anxious to get rolling I went to Comp USA and all they had in stock was a ACOM Multi-flash 4 port job for $89 bucks. I have the 1 Gig IBM Microdrive. The ACOM needed their driver updates to work properly...bigtime problems before the updates..."Do I smell smoke?" heheh

The Breeze Browser and his Downloader are a fabulous combo...I hear the new software from canon and for that $6,000 new model is compatible with the D30 and Greg Noble of Canoga Camera tested it out and he loves it. I hope he's right...the present Canon software sucks.

Any of ya'll go to Fred Miranda's site? Man, he's got some actions there that are pure.
Enjoy your posts...wish I read it earlier. Won't make that mistake again.
Cheers,

I got the CameraMate from Microtek. It is great. Takes all the major cards so even visitors can load up if I want them too. It is very easy to use and i carry it in my camera bag.

It is a little larger than most of them, but I don't consider that a negative but rather a positive. It is solid and feels like it is the right size rather than a little featherweight box that slides around the desk everytime I try and put a card in it. It takes the SmartMedia, CF 1 and 2 and Microdrive.
