Canon (Elstree) returned my 10D within a week, which is great. However, they had only recalibrated the auto-focus and not checked it extensively for the manual focus problem I'd detailed.

When I called, I was told that I could bring it back in for further testing but if I wanted to exchange it I would have to go back to the retail outlet. Apparently, Canon don't exchange products, even if they are irreprable...

I'll use it for a week and take it back, but I'm dismayed they won't consider exchanging the unit if they can't resolve the problem. :(

That's not true. I have read of several people getting their camera exchanged by Canon. The person you talked to just does not have that authority. If it doesn't pan out that your camera is actually repaired, then just ask to speak to someone that has the authority to exchange. I guarantee that someone at that facility has that authority.

Thanks for the helpful (and reassuring) information.

If it is not fixed next time I'll make sure I speak to someone at Canon who *can* exchange it for me. :)
