Ok, I have been asked to have a few of my pics printed at 11x14, but no one local has that capability. I have been looking over a few online sites, but I really don't know which to chose, and I have looked around the forums here (not exacly deeply but whatever). Where is the best place to get these size prints? Also, what colorspace should I use and is there anything I should or should not do to the image before sending it? Thanks in advance.

I think that 11x14 is a uncommon size, but every mini-lab I've run into can do 12x18 and then you'll just need to trim.

thanks, maybe I got my sizes wrong. The point was that there is no lab that can print above 8X10 around where I live. I need to use an online place, where can I do this? And what needs to be done with the image?

There are many, with mpix.com seeming to be a favorite around here. Also I think SmugMug and PhotoBucket will do prints.

Ahh, here is the standardization problem.

11x17 inches is a standard paper size. However, 11x14 inches is a more standard size for matting or framing. Note that neither one is exactly the 3:2 ratio that the camera is doing.

So, normally I print my 11x14 prints on 11x17 paper, trim off one edge, and then apply matting and stick it on a frame of 16x20 inches.

Speaking from your perspective as a consumer of printing services, we understand your problem. However, there is an old axiom of business. When you have a big problems finding the right service that you want, then that is a market opportunity. Buy yourself some commercial-grade printer and open up a little cottage industry. Advertise yourself locally, if that is there the problem is.

Geez, with a stinking home printer, I do up to 13x19 inches.

Lol, I wish - I am still in school! Maybe later but for now, I will just order my prints. Thanks Scottes, I think I will go with Mpix.

Now another question, do you think this would work for the Endura metallic paper they can use:

(they real one is bigger, this is resized and compressed for temporary example.

I looked at the details and I think I may like it, just did not have any experiance with any paper besides glossy (from local labs). If anyone knows about this paper I would appreciate any 'exta' information on it.

I use ezprints.com (http://www.ezprints.com) -- they do great work. I have yet to have a problem with them.

Unfortunatly, I can't see your picture(blocked on work computer). But the Endura metallic paper is quite impressive. I recently won a second prize at a photo expo and sold the photo with that paper. I suggest you might try one print with it and see if you like it. The website states it's not recommended for portraits though.

Thanks for the response alfa1six4, I read it just as the FedEx man brought me my prints, and yes, the Endura metallic was awsome. The photos I had printed were a macro and a b/w water picture (the one that is shown).
