This is one of the early EF lenses from 1988. It features only automatic focus and F/4.5 max aperture through out its range. The zoom is a push-pull design and its possible to control the limit autofocus via the Custom Settings of the camera. I have been given this lens by a friend who bought it brand new in 1989. It may be slow and noisy but its a classic.

Here is a recent unedited photograph using this lens on my EOS 5D.

My EF 100-200mm f/4.5A is dated March 1989 (UD0301). It is actually a decent lens even though it was criticized for being an "A" lens. Using back button focus helps to take control of the autofocus. Mine is quite sharp and doesn't exhibit very much chromatic aberration at all.
