One of the last Canadian Pacific trains running on CSXT through Michigan. Most moved to shorter route via Norfolk Southern. Taken in Plymouth Michigan today (10-31-05) with a G6 1/200 f4. Comments welcome.

Kaine, where did you take the shot? By the diamond?

I only shoot at at the diamond for east bound trains. It was a little east of there. The bridge (the little concrete wall at right) you see is over Hines Park. I think it is just off of holbrook(?) there is a gravel raod that runs next to the tracks with a landscape company at the end. The only problem is if you want more of the train then you end taking pics of traffic on I275.

Gotcha, I know exactly where you were. I was working in the Erie area today and could hear lots of trains running through the area. I couldn't leave work to go train spotting though.

Thanks for the comments guys.

The CEFX 1056 is an AC4400CW (not a Dash9) that was brand new I think last winter. I think CP is getting their money's worth from that lease.

As for the 1st generation locos i'll pass and take a new GEVO or ACe anyday.

hmmm. I sure do miss conrail, damn ns/csx ;) The AC6000's are ok, an engineer told me they pull 6,200+ Horsepower, not 6,000HP...How do you like CSX's "Dark Futeure Paint Scheme"?

I haven't liked anyone's paint jobs since SP abandoned the Black Widow livery.

I like CSX's YN3 (dark Future) paint scheme. Clean and crisp. Sure can't get more simplie than that. I also miss the old SP tunnel motors.

For those you do not know one paint scheme from another, here is a YN3 or dark future. This is D717-13 a Plymouth local that runs to the other side of Detroit with these car frames for I belive DCX. Taken with a G6 1/800 at f4 (at the Diamond Jon)

CSX hasn't ahd that scheme for a long time, it's already rustings through it, looking like crap..eh, thats weathing...Looks like you live by GM, I live by the Lordstown Plant where they make the Colbolt, about 3o min away.

Looking at the full size pic, I dont think that is rust, I think it is just road grime. CSX has never been one to keep their equipment clean. I think they came out with this scheme in 2002.

I actualy live closer to Ford Plants than GM. EX Ford, Sheldon Raod plant where componets are made and Wixom Assembley where they make the GT40 and Lincolns. Both about 10 mins away.

Great shot, as train shots usually are! :)

For the record, I prefer the BNSF color scheme, and we see plenty of them on the Norfolk & Southern tracks nearby. NS engines in basic black - never looked very pretty.

Here's a little blue that I miss. I remember when B&O was a real railroad....

A little bit of Belmondo Trivia.....

When I was a kid, I was a fairly active model railroader, and I modeled B&O and Pennsylvania. I named my layout the Baltomania and Schyzophrenia Railroad.

Ah, the mind of a teenager.

I had a Lionel (still do) - you really couldn't model much with that setup without spending big $$. Still, I've got about a 15 car train boxed up in the basement with a fairly substantial Plasticville village.

BTW, it strikes me as interesting that the B&O color scheme might have kept its presence in CSX.

it would be neat if it was in the 20-30'S again, Disele were coming in, and yuo had steam at the same time....

I was alive in the 40's (barely), and that would have been a really interesting time. On any given day, you might see a variety of steam engines, all the way from switchers to articulated road engines, and first generations diesels from EMD, Alco, Baldwin, Fairbanks-Morse, GE, Whitcomb, Plymouth, and even lesser known marques. Most of these are museum pieces today, but they were in everyday use back then.

I can still remember riding on the Coast Daylight being pulled by Alco PA's and a GS-4 helper on the point. I sure wish I'd had a camera back then.

I didn't catch all that, and barely saw any steam in the '60's. In the 70's, I got to ride the Auto Train. I can't remember the exact route, but the one I rode on is no longer in service. The east coast route is, though.
