I am new to this forum, looks like a nice place to start. 2 days ago I purchased a new 310, had been looking at the 300 but something just did not set right. Long story short, went to get the 300 and found a 310 that arrived the day before. I got touchie feely with both cameras and the slight cosmetic difference won out on the 310.
So, for the photo savy masses can you give me some pointers to try out and see if the 310 can live up to the commercial hype, I have about 10 more days to return it.
I have had several P&S Canons (SD600, A520, A95, A1100) and had really good luck with them, the last one A1100 left me a bit disapointed, seemed my A95 had better pics. I use these cameras for everything, offroad riding, vacations, camping, anywhere and everywhere.
First impression, the higher pixel screen is great, video seems clear and detailed, pictures look much nicer than my old one and the menu navigation seems reasonably simple but there are a lot of options, most of which I don't understand. The added zoom (8xoptical and 4xdigital) nets a 32x. The new black is not textured like the 300, the left side of the camera is thicker than than right, which made the camera seem a bit more stable in my hands.
So weigh in, I can test and post for comparisons, lets see what it is made of. I am no expert photographer, but I do have certain expectations of a good P&S.
