Hello everyone...

Pardon in advance if this has been posted before... I have a black powershot g2 digicam. I also have a lensmate adapter and a Hoya UV filter accessories that I would like to attach to my powershot g2 on a permanent basis.

With these 2 accessories attached, I notice a prominent dark area in the lower right corner of pictures taken. The dark area occupies only a very small part of the lower right corner but noticeable enough to be somewhat annoying. Yes this anomaly only happens when I take pictures using the G2's flash. Anyone has the same experience and any tips to reduce or a way to get rid of it? Thanks in advance for any responses.

I think about the only way to avoid that is use an external flash when using the lensmate, or take in a little larger area in the photo than you really want and crop it out later on the computer.

Yes I have also encounted this problem. I did not know what it was. I have used the adaptor since buying the camera. Does this shadow happen with out the adaptor on?

This is because the adapter blocks the flash (it throws a shadow on the picture).

By using an external flash, you can avoid this.

Andy

This problem should also go away if you zoom in a little. I believe that it is only a problem at maximum wide-angle.

Hope this helps,
Allan

What was said above is correct, just be glad you got the lensmate and not the canon adapter as it's much worse.

That's good to know. I will zoom in the next time..lensmate is great.

You can actually see the shadow in pictures without a lens adapter installed. I just happened to set my G2 directly on the table top while testing some settings with remote capture--the flash triggered, and there was a reasonably large shadow covering the lower right section of tablecloth. Of course, you're unlikely to get a great picture of something that close using the internal flash anyway...
