Here's something I snapped on the way home from work today through Bouquet Canyon (quaint name, eh?). Climbed about 50 feet up a canyon wall because this fleur caught my eye. And I got lucky: see the bee?

On the way down the hill, I fell the last 10 feet or so... big belly flop onto sharp rocks. Twisted my ankle, banged-up my ribs, cut up my arm. So I hope the picture was worth it! Not that (ahem!) you should let that influence your critiques, please! I now have a cracked lenscap, and there's a bona fide battle ding in the metallic bottom of my new G3. But it's working fine, thank you.
But if you'd like to see a couple of other shots on the Killer Hillside of Bouquet Canyon, then click on this. (http://home.mindspring.com/~awaits/90/hillside.htm)

Sheesh. Blame it on the Tylenol.

That's a sunflower image that Van Gogh would have been proud to call his own. Beautiful shot, Andy.
Great shame that you came tumbling down after.
Thanks for sharing it with us.

loved the shot of the beautiful sunflower
and also other flowers on your site andy
especially the one (spikey) photographed just before you had the belly flopping tumble down the hilllside (what a shock for you, sorry that happened)
' spikey', the name you give the plant is a brook thistle, I think.
I only say it because I was looking up other plants and flowers last night and then saw yours also.
its beautiful .
looked at the other pictures on your site
and where you ask ' if anything touches us please send a note ' well here I am ,
that picture of ogden canyon touched me
but there was an earth link error message when trying to enlarge it, to view it better.
of all the shots I picked it first and it was the only one didn't get larger
: )
no worries, I could see the scene ok as small as it was
and those beautiful autumn colours
and just to critique here, being that section,
why did you fall ???
was it 'because' of spikey
and trying to get a good angle ?
best wishes

Awww, shucks. Thanks Marie!
Fixed the link. Although I'm afraid my scanner is so tacky, the larger image ain't much better.
But thanks for your kind comments on the flower shots.
To answer your question regarding my tumble, I was coming down after the shots... steep hillside, covered with wildflowers, rocky terrain, lost my footing close to the bottom, ended up face-down in the roadside gravel. G3 made a nice imprint on my ribcage! Still works fine, though it's a bit dinged up now. And all my parts appear to be functioning, albeit somewhat slowly today! Hahaha!
Thanks again for checking my film gallery and for your input.

Oops! I apologize for not responding to your too-kind comments also, Eland! Van Gogh would have sold his brushes if he could've bought a G3! Of course, it would have been a drag waiting for someone to invent the personal computer so he could download the shots....

thanks andy
you were very lucky from all accounts.
and so was that precious g3 !
you may not have been here to tell the tale at all.
I often wonder (not to often) if one of us dies,
who will tell the others ?? : )
some already are missing
(though not presumed 'dead' )
I got the larger picture which you fixed up, thank you.
yes, not a great scan, but its not too bad .
maybe you'll go there again soon and get some more fresh shots.
thanks again
and for fixing it so as I could see the picture

Thank you all for the well-wishes, and for everyone who sent me a personal note. Also to those who browsed my gallery and graced me with their commentary, public and private.
Here is the last shot I took before the tumble!

You can see the actual picture of "Spikey," the so-designated brook thistle growing on a Bouquet Canyon hillside, right here (http://home.mindspring.com/~awaits1/90/hillside.htm), if you care to.

andy, I just have to reply again to this.
thanks
I nearly split my sides laughing when I saw and read what you said along with this last picture
its so funny, as I pictured it all in my head
(if I want to go down that road )
the camera rolling ,
you rolling,
the flower captured as you both rolled down the mossy hill
and terrific ( funny) photo
