A couple test pics with the Canon SX40IS

I own the S3is, and today upgraded to the SX40IS. Controls are a bit different. Need to learn how to make this camera sing!!! Didn't mess much with the controls, just did the P&S. Feels good in my small hands.

Don't have alot of time now to discuss much more, getting ready to head out for a nice dinner. Historic country restaurant, dates back to being leased to Charles Carroll, the father of the signer of the Declaration of Independance. Hoping to get a few more pics there.

All pics straight out of the camera. Just wanted to post a few for anyone who may be interested in this camera.

Can you take some shots without digital zoom? Digital zoom doesn't look good at all.

All I have right now are the one's that I posted. Numbers 2,3 and 4 have no zoom. I will work on getting more. The zoomed photo's are hand held, with a very shakey hand:(. I need to try a tripod or else lean against something.

I just wanted to post some photos, because other than Canon's site with 1 shot, I couldn't find any. Thought that these might help someone in the same shoes that I was in.

That's what reviewers call 'real world conditions' ;) , as not all of us carry a tripod around for spontaneous photo ops...

No problem, glad to post some test shots!

I am finding this to have a bit more of a learning where everything is curve than the S3. I guess I have just become so familar with the S3.

No night modes tried. But did do a low and high end shutter speed.

I must say that I am not used to using a wheel for adjustments. I tend to use Av most of the time. When I am changing it, I find myself hitting the ISO and changing that as well:rolleyes:.

Oh, and a really crappy try at the moon. This I know I can do better at. Just too cold and tired to try any more this evening. Oh, I broke out the tripod ;)

Nice moonshot. The sx40 is on my short list of might wants.

But I like keeping CHDK on my powershots and it could be a while until an sx40 port comes out.

Nice shots , I think the digic 5 and a few other changes Canon made are going to make some great improvements ;)

Have you played with the Super Slow Motion video mode? Would you mind posting some examples? I would imagine you'd get the best results recording something fast moving-- like water dripping on a table or someone getting slapped in the face, and recording in bright sunlight.

No I haven't. Barely touched all the features available in this camera.

The only video I have taken is a short clip of Pennsylvania's wild elk up in Benezette, PA.
