Shaky Camera photsop correction?

Hello all, please do not shoot me down that much ;) I am new to digital photography, just got a S50 and am learning quickly. I am having a camera shake problem when taking nightclub shots, I have no tripod. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to correct this picture?

Also, is there a procedure you follow for all the pictures after you get them on computer? Such as sharpening, etc?

Well in the poor light you are doing well.
A tripod or even a monopod would help.

I'm not familiar with your camera. If it allows you to set ISO, set it as high as you can. eg 400 or higher.

For the web, you need to cut down the size of the image
called Resampling to around 450 Kb.
Do this on a duplicate image not your original.
Image/Duplicate

Basic tools you would use if required are
Image/ adjust/ Contrast & Brightness,
Maybe Auto levels. maybe color saturation.

Have a play around. Its not difficult.

Usually some sharpening is needed.
For overall sharpening
Filter/Sharpen/ Unsharp mask.

Too much makes the image break down.
Experiment and undo if necessary.

Start with eg Amount 80+
Radius 0.4
Threshold 0
Use the amount slider and watch the effect.

Finally go to File......Save for Web.
Cut the quality down to usually between 40 and 60.
This makes your image load faster.
Drop in quality is not noticed.

Thanks eland....I have so much to learn but you're right, it is fun and addictive. It's when I see posts like 'Computer Magic' that I realize taking the picture is only a small part of the product.
