Hello everyone, I have a Canon EOS 350D camera, with 18-55 and 50 f1.8. I want to buy one of that two lenses:
1. Sigma 28-200mm/3.5-5.6 Compact Hyper Zoom Aspherical Macro
2. Sigma 70-300mm/F4-5.6 Apo Macro Super II
I want to know wich one is sharper, and wich one do you reccomend?
I really need your advices.
Thanks!

Go for the Sigma APO version. You have longer reach and from every reviews, it's a good lens.

The one you want is the 70-300 "APO DG", #508101.

Thank you very much! The question is: 70-300 is "sharper" than the 18-55?

Yes, the 70-300 is INFINITELY SHARPER than the 18-55 from 70-300.

I have both lens (Canon 18-55 and Sigma 70-300 APO DG). They obviously have differnt ranges of focal length, therefore, a direct shootout comparsion would not be possible. However, judging by my naked eyes, I would say the sigma 70-300 is sharper and has better contrast (for same apperture used) for photos right off the camera. When the photos are adjusted and sharpened in PS, the differences become less obvious. I also have the canon 50/1.8 and the Tamron 28-75/2.8 lenses, both are known to be very sharp lens, and I found the Sigma 70-300 APO DG (other older versions, from what I heard, are not as good) is not far behind for f>=7.1.

So, I guess 28-200 is junk... I liked 28-200 because its wide range of focal distances. (sorry for my english, I am romanian).

Is the Sigma 70-300 discussed above sharper or more desirable than the Canon 75-300 USM III?
