Any sugestions as to how to combat this in final prints?Various types of lighting provide light of different colors. If you are using a digital camera, you should be able to set the "white balance" to match the light source. Try the "tungsten" setting for starters.

Is it possible to identify a type of electric light source and simply know which setting to apply to correct the colour problem ?

If you shoot in RAW mode (with or without JPG), you can edit the white balance in the RAW conversion process (long after you take the photo, that is) just as easily as if you were doing it on the camera. I learned that a LONG time ago with my Canon PowerShot G2, and have always shot in RAW mode ever since.

Ive yet to venture into the raw thing but will look into it.I did an experiment with a shot under a table lamp adjusting the balance thing and yes it did make a big difference to the colour of the shot, so thanks for that. I can see theres a lot to learn with this digital thing.
