Tamron uses this type with the 28-75 lens so maybe their wide angle 17-35 @ 77mm does too.

I cannot seem to find a pic of the lens cap for the 17-35 from Tamron. Thanks for the suggestion though!
I wonder what the build quality of toyguru's cap is...hmm. That could do it! ;)

Wonder why canon has not done this style cap and noink and tamoron have? Is is out of pride and not admitting their cap design can be improved?

I think so too.
Are you familar with the Range Rover ? Our household has seen over 13 Range Rovers since 1989. Because of advances in technology, so much as changed in the car. In regards to interior design. Everything is either digital or electric/tronic. Except one thing, the clock. Its an analog clock. Range Rover decided to keep some of it's history alive.
A lot of cars which previously has these analog clocks quickly dropped it when LCD was common.

Nice link!
http://www.fotodiox.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=1_16&products_id=387 is the 77
I still dont see an inner pinch without that "cap keeper" thing on the bottom. I would prob cut it off if they dont have one without it
Looks good though - pretty much 2 for 1 compared to the Ebay link

Yeah, a quick snip and you're good to go. At these prices you can have a spare. :-)

What's wrong with using a Nikon cap? That's childish fanboy-ism. It would be quite funny too. A chance to poke Nikon if someone asks about the cap: "ye, i like using the best there is: Canon makes the best bodies and lenses, but Nikon makes the best caps. ;)"

Thanks a bunch. I just ordered a 72mm cap from them for my 17mm Tokina. It has a non-removable hood and this cap should work just fine.

You might be surprised. There is a better than 50/50 chance its actually a "digital" analog clock with a stepper motor and a small microcontroller, like this electric oven.

I think these caps would be great because I usually leave the hood on my lens and it is a pain to try and get the cap on without taking the hood off first. Looks like the little loop for the strap to hook on my get in the way of the hood. I guess I could just cut it off like Skip said.

My Tamron 28-75 and the 70-200 F4 take turns on my camera for around 95% of the time - but the lens cap I use is the one from Tamron. Esp. with the hood, the Canon lens cap is a waste!!

I know it's a pain with lens hood on; but..
With the lens hood off; when you go to remove a lens cap; you reach for the sides of the lens. If it's not on; you know it by feel.
If you use a pinch type lens cap; and just reach to remove your lens cap; d'oh! you just put a very annoying fingerprint on your filter or more annoyingly; the front lens element.
I do this 90% by feel; only when camera/lens comes out of my bag am I actually looking at the lens; between shots while hiking/walking I just don't look.
Just my thoughts..
