I have set my 2 day old G3 to L and Super Fine - I think that is the best it gets - right? But I am suprized to see that when I ckick on properties of individual images I take that the file size averages around 575 K. I wouls expect the file size to be from 1,5 to 2.5 MP . Am I doing something wrong. So far it seems like the 3.1 MP Fuji S602 takes slightly better photos than the G3 I traded up too. Any comments from anyone - I'm puzzled

Well that file size might be normal for those settings, depending on the content of the photo.
Using those settings though, I have had photo's that range from 500kb to 2500kb. It varies on the image.

You have an example image we can see?

What camera setting were you in when you set the resolution mode and what setting were you using when you shot the pictures? If they are not the same, that may explain your smaller file size.

If you set the picture resolution while in any of the Creative Zone modes, that does not set the resolution for the Image Zone modes. You have to set the resolution for the Image Zones separately.

Also, if you can't recall what you did on a particular photo, there is info stored with the file that tells you.

If the picture is still on your CF card, use the display button to display the histogram. See page 36 of the manual. If the resolution and quality were set as you expected then the letter L and also the quadrant symbol with the S should appear at bottom.

You can also see what shooting mode you used.

If the picture is now only on your PC you may need other software than came with the camera to view some of the data.
