Hi Folks,
I have the chance of buying a 1D for around 2000 Pound (UK). The camera is 9 months old and has been used by a profesional watersport photographer. Salt spray comes to mind, but I presume the camera has been build to withstand that? It has had its 6monthly service by Canon. What do members think......Shall I risk it and go for it?

It's a good price the 1D is built to be hammered. New they are down to just over £3000. 6 months canon service can just be a clean and check but the seller will have a report from canon as what was done so you should be able to see that for reassurance. Why is he getting rid of it is the other question I would want an answer too. If he's upgrading to 1Ds as many are, not sports photographers usually, it's a valid reason.

Thank you David, he says indeed that he has bought the 1DS, but he would say that!
I will go and see it and take some shots with it, although that might be difficult not knowing the camera, unless it is like the D60, which I am used to, and take it from there.
