Hello there. I've been lurking around this forum a couple of days now just to see other users of the G3 think of it. Needless to say, you helped me make the decision to finally buy G3 for myself. The first camera I've ever used before going digital is my Canon AE-1 SLR.
I've read issues here of people not satisfied with the lens cap of the G3. Believe me when I say that its been an issue of mine since the analog version. I have some trouble with the focusing of the G3, but I feel that its a matter of getting used to the camera, and one of these days i'll get the feel for it like i had my analog one. Here's hoping.
nyway, this is one of the very first shot i did with the G3. Still trying to get the feel of it. :)

Welcome dagger - cool shot. I like the contrast of the colors.

Welcome to the fold, Dagger. :-) Nice picture.
Enjoy your camera, and watch out for the accessory monster...he's stolen literally hundreds out of my wallet. :-) OK, I did kind of encourage him a bit...

Thank you for the warm welcome, you two.
Dana, unfortunately, the monster is already lurking amongst the darkest shadows of my mind, waiting for that exact moment to show its ugly face. :D

Hi dagger & all new G3 users,
Welcome too, here's a bunch of websites if you're interested to purchase accessories.. I learned the existence of these websites from many G3 users here whom shared their experience. A few websites that were shared by G3 users....
filters:
http://www.2filters.com/
http://www.camerafilters.com/
adapter:
http://www.lensmateonline.com/
look for further comment on the G3 forum on discussion of getting 52mm or 58mm tube adapter
lens:
Tiffen brand -> http://www.tiffen.com/ (almost impossible to get the wide angle lens? everysite seems to be backlog with orders)
Raynox brand-> http://www.raynox.co.jp/english/digital/egcanong3.htm
Have not seen any website on Kenko lens?! nor the one offered in eBay auctions (Opteka nor Digital optics)?
battery charger (search for BP511 word):
http://store.yahoo.com/greenbatteries-store/index.html
http://www.lenmar.com/product_list.asp?product=digital&type=chargers&manufacturer=Canon&category=9,16,18
BP511 battery (eBay offered quite good price for non-OEM battery)
Currently I'm getting
52mm lens adapter
Hoya Filters - UV, close-up, circular polarizer
battery charger
2 non-OEM batteries
I just bought G3 last week, currently I've 2x256Mb memory. Trying to buy the Tiffen Megaplus 43mm wideangle lens but can't seem to get it anywhere... thus will resort to my old Canon 500N SLR + Tamron 28-200mm lens. Should be able to make up for the wide angle and the telephoto not covered by my G3... yeah 2 cameras for backup :)
cheers, ES Lee

Welcome Dagger. I have an email here forwarded to me from the Accessory MONSTER himself. If you have $450 burning a hole in your pocket, the first accessory you must purchase is the Canon S9000 printer. I am also a new digital user (G3 and S9000) that is astounded by the lab quality photos that my new printer prints.
So forget about lenses, filters, flashes, etc., take the plunge and purchase the printer. The Accessory Monster highly reccomends it :)
