This is my favourite shot from last Saturday. I sent it to the writer who does a weekly Bird column in the Saturday Edition of the Ottawa Citizen and they ran it in today's paper. Cool! :D

It is a really nice shot, Gary. The background is unusual, but an asset to the picture. Congratulations.

Thats why it got into the paper - its a one-eyed half-blind, one legged amputee crane.

Good shot. The fall leaves make it special.

Peter I was thinking of you when I noticed that he was on one leg because I knew you would be asking that question. I was worried that since almost all the shots of him were while nestled in the fallen leaves that I did not have a picture of this heron on both feet. Perhaps he was a one legged heron ( that would explain his not fleeing quickly like most of them) ! Herons habitually stand on one leg when at rest but I thought I better check all the photos to see. If not well...I could photoshop another leg in anyway :lol: I do have 1 shot ( below) and before you ask, no I did not photoshop in that small section of leg ( no cropping on this photo). Thanks for keeping it lively. I would never want it to get too serious, your sense of humour is appreciated.:D

Congrats Gary.......Another fine example of your patience and dedication. Keep up the good work, my little guy; Zachary and I always look forward the Saturday edition of the Ottawa Citizen's bird column. It' even more of a thrill when we see photos of a friend published.

Congrats from one ottawa man to another. I was in the gatineau hills today to capture some really nice shots. Ill have to start actually posting here :)

What a wonderful shot. The heron alone would have been great, but the fall colors, blue sky and water just really make this an excellent shot.

Thanks JDM and I am looking forward to seeing some of your stuff. The Gatineau Hills are a wondrous place. Its been too long since I have been there.
