NB-1LH Non-official Batteries

I was looking for a second battery for my Ixus v3 on eBay and I saw some people are selling "Canon NB-1LH 850mAh" batteries - "OEM Equivalent, made in Hong Kong" (not manufactured by Canon). They are much cheaper than the Canons.

Is there any difference between these and the Canon ones?

many 3rd party manufacturers are repackaging li-ion cells from Japan. its a case of you get what you pays for. set your expectations at 78% performance for that discount in price and lack of an extra body checking up on the battery manufacturer claims. then you should be happy. I would encourage buying so that in the long run canon is not monopolising the market and market forces pushes the price of their batteries down.
