Quantaray is sold by Kit, Wolf, etc aren't they? Not one of my favorite places to shop because of price/performance.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com is a reliable, reputable dealer. The 420EX is good value.

Isn't Quantaray the Ritz/Wolf store brand and made by Sigma?

Quantaray is a brand name for Ritz (and other stores, I believe) that is applied to stuff made by a whole myriad of manufacturers. You can't tell who made anything with the Quantaray label on it, and there's no guarantee that a package with the same Quantaray model number will be exactly the same thing later on. Vendors can change mid-stream. As long as the device meets their very loose specifications it seems that it can be substituted for the original item that was sold as a particular model number.
I would NEVER buy anything with the Quantaray label on it unless it was something that didn't matter - such as a little accessory case or a pack of lens tissue or something like that.

I have a Quantary flash for my other cameras, but I wouldn't get another. The 420 is a great flash. I have one for a travel kit and it works great. It will do what you want and a bit more. When you get more advanced in your picture taking skills you will need to upgrade your flash and camera.
That is when it gets fun. Oooo expensive also.
The 420EX will give you great service and It will be a good flash to keep as a back up or like I use it in a travel bag. I like to go our around the Las Vegas Strip and take some shots and I don’t want to carry around a large bag. The 420 flash and my two other lenses works out just great with my travel bag. Good luck with your purchase.

Don't be shy Skip - tell us what you really think.
I do agree. In fact the last pack of lens tissues I bought was at Wolfe. You might also try www.buydig.com or www.beachcamera.com. I've found both to be reputable in addition to the recommendation for B&H.
