D30 down load problems

Using a new G4 powerbook I'm not able to download from flash cards made with my D30 into i-photo. No problem with either a G2 powershot or nikon cool pix. i-photo recognizes the D30 and the number of images on the card. It begins to download very slowly and then pops out of the download program without leaving any photos behind. After loading the Canon download software into OS 10 and classic 9 I found I could not download there either. Tried different flashcards, cables etc. No luck. Anyone had this problem? Apple service thinks it's the camera. I'm very new to computers and digital imaging so I apologize if it seems terribly amateurish to use i-photo but I find it a wonderful program for storing and printing pictures from a mumber of different sources.

Are you connecting the camera to download? If so, I would recommend you get a card reader anyway. That's if your computer has USB (I don't know much about Macs) Anyway, a card reader is cheap and convenient.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a card reader and it has the same problem with down loads from the D30. I should add that this problem only occurs with raw files. All the Jpegs download without a problem. i-photo simply refuses the raw files.
