I went over to St. Joseph's Oratory in Montreal a while ago with the intent of just snapping some more test on the 5D. I had a few that came out I really kind of liked.

All shot with the 16-35 f2.8 lens

Number 3 is my favourite - I love the way the stone steps lead you up the angular building, that contrasts starkly against the bright blue sky and is a complete inverse reflection of the smooth curved structure on the left, especially due to the fact that the building seems to have a black 'border' to it - make it seem that it just doesn't belong there.

Also makes you think 'What's around the corner?' as it give the impression that the steps lead almost to nowhere just disapearing over a crest, there's no indication as to where the steps lead. :)

Nice shots. I like number two the best.

Very creative compositions. I think I'll have to remember to try this type of perspective in my architectural and travel photography. A bit more contrast, or selective dodging on the buildings I think might make the focal point (buildings) pop out in the distance.....or maybe not.

Number two is my favorite, followed closely by the third. The first doesn't do a lot for me. It's not taken straight on, so it feels lopsided.

Number two is AWESOME...I think you could do wonders with this in a Black and white copy using some of Martin's hints...

I think number one could deal with a tighter crop...maybe at the base of the stairs...

Cheers,

Excellent work, SSIM. You seem to be driving that lens to its full potential.

I like those gentle and neutral colours. IMO, this is a good example of elegant architectural photography at its best.

FANTASTIC! Love that 2nd photo!
Genius composition and angle; great exposure, frankly I am surprised you didn't get more comments on that photo. Also the textures are great there. All very, very good and refreshing in that image.

BTW I also like the other two.;)

Oh to have full wide angle when using digital!!!!. I have to agree really like number two, not only the composition, but the blue sky really makes the shot, no. 3 is also good, I like the way you have goten down low letting the stairs lead you inyo the photo's

I agree........#2 and #3 are great.

I wonder what it would look like if you would photoshop the buildings in the background in those 2 pics....

Nice job.
