Came home from a trip this weekend, went to do a slide show of photos on TV, thinking this was the easiest way to show them to some friends, and the display was a disaster. Looked like scrambled cable channels. It was obviously receiving data because you could make out the picture a little. Anyone else having this problem? Not a major problem since I would rarely do this, but still annoying.

Is your D30 a version meant for US distribution, or possibly, is it a 'Gray Market' version intended for European distribution.
If you find that's the case, the Video output of the camer is in PAL format, and does not work here in the states with TV or monitors.
I have just found out that I have that problem with a Fuji 6900 (super little digital) camera that I purchased from Abe's of Maine. They refuse to take it back.
I made sure that the D30 that I got several days ago was the US version.
Good luck.

The USA Canon D30 has a menu item to select NTSC or PAL video output, with NTSC being the default. Is it really true that they put dual-system capability into a US model (where virtually no one has a PAL TV set) but left it out of a European model (where PAL is generally standard, but NTSC-capable sets are not so rare) ? See if the third menu item from the bottom isn't "Video system", and if it is, just set it to "NTSC" (assuming that's your TV standard) or "PAL" otherwise.
