S10 plays dead when CF card in

I have a PowerShot S10 that has been working flawlessly until now. Now, if there is a Compact Flash card in it, it will do nothing, just as if there was no battery in it. If I remove the CF card, the camera comes alive: In plaback mode it'll say "NO CF card". In photo mode, the lens comes out, the LCD display shows what the lens sees and the words "No CF card" are displayed as well. I have tried 3 different CF cards that all used to work and they all give me the same results.

Does anybody know what is happening, and how to fix the problem?

if you dare to take it apart you can fix it! take the front and rear and top cover off. on the side of your usb connector there are 2 flatcables on top of eachother! take the upper one from the main board and the one underneath is from your cf card holder. take the cable out of the connector and youl see a little bump in the cable. that's the problem!! gently straighten the bump and it would be for the best to stick a peace of tape over it! reatache it and your problem should be solved
