Microdrive is cheaper than compactflash in price per megabyte. CF cards are faster, although I doubt you will notice, I use both and I dont. Durability wise, microdrive are more suseptable to damage, alhtough mine has dropped twice and is fine.
If you want a high cpacity of storage and are not stupidly rich, go with the 1gig microdrive

Has anyone found a really good price on the 1G Microdrive?

Childofthe60s,
I had the exact same question when I got my 10D,. the first camera I've owned to use compact flash.
The answer is this. A 1gig flash card now costs the same and even some times less than a Microdrive.
When the Microdrive came out it was considerably less expensive than a flash card,. so it made sense to sacrifice a little speed and durabbility to save a lot of cash.
But the Drives have not kept up with flash memory capacities or pricing. Flash memory is by far the better deal. It is marginally faster and a LOT more durable!!!!!
Again the price is at least equal.
Check out www.newegg.com
or www.pcmall.com
for good prices on cards. I have a Viking 512 and a Sandisk 256 both are excellent. The Viking was $79.99 after a recbate. I gig cards hover around $200.00
