I bought this lens about a week ago.
There is very slight vignettning at full telephoto (full zoom) that is increased when you decrease the zoom level, also there is noticeable chromatic abberation and soft corners when using the lens. You have to use manual focus in most situations with the lens as well.

Besides that, the image quality is fairly good as long as your subject is in the middle of your shot.

Hi Ogo

thanks a lot for your post...

I hesitate to buy it now... :(

that remains a good purchase or is it better to buy a good 2x ?

what do you think ?

Can you post some pictures or give a link where I can have a look ??

thanks a lot for your help...

I don't use the extra zoom that often but I like having it if I need to get really close to something at a great distance. I'll take some pics with the lens on and off for you to compare tomorrow. It being a good purchase is dependant on what you need, really. I'll let you judge for yourself after I put some pics up tomorrow (weather permitting).

This is definitely a "to each his own" situation, but I just wouldn't consider a tele converter that always vignettes, even at full zoom. I prefer some flexibility to back off full zoom.

I'd go w/the Kenko 2x or Canon 1.75x.

See www.lensmateonline.com for some shots of those lenses in action.
