Are these teleconverters all made equal (the canon ones I mean)?
If I get one that's 5 years old, will it be the same as a new one?
If there were any changes over the years, what are they, and is there any real impact on image quality?
Thanks,

There are two versions...the Mark II and the original. The Mark II (newer) has weather seals and an anti-reflective surface on the inside of the barrel. The optics are the same on both versions.

Keep in mind that very few lenses will work with Canon's teleconverters. I believe other teleconverter manufacturers (Sigma, Tamron) make them to work with a broader range of lenses - not just expensive F2.8 or wider lenses.

Thanks for the feedback.
I'm aware they don't work with everything, I have a 70-200 2.8 - it's for this lens only, just really for some stupid experiments I'd like to do, you know, photograph New Zealand......from Australia.
