Have you checked your homeowners insurance? If that doesn't cover you, a rider may be available.

My camera equipment is covered by State Farm (same people as house and car). I have it covered as professional photographic equipment. If It gets damaged, stolen or lost anywhere in the world it is covered (or so I was told). I was told I could even replace it overseas if needed. In any case it covered my equipment for a trip to Jamaica (although I did not use it) so it should cover Mexico. If travelling, it needed to be listed as professional equipment to be covered fully. If just sitting at home, it would be covered by homeowners. You will need all of your sales receipts as proof.

Just my experience,

I assume by the "Go Spurs" (rotfl....Scuse me...lol) that you are UK located?... I have all my gear insured with Golden Valley insurance based in Herefordshire, I have (touch wood) only had to claim once (dropped a 70-200 2.8L and smashed front element) and they paid out by return post once quote had been sorted! I have no affiliation with this company just have found them good value and quick!

I have been thinking a lot on this subject since I got the 10D and a few pricey lenses. It is by far the largest invvestment I have ever made (including cars!!!!)

Think I'll call my Car insurance agent first.
