Hey Everyone,
Thought I would have some fun this weekend and create an ad for a fictional soda. I created the labels and taped them on Big Red bottles.
The model is my wife. There are six lights in the setup. A hairlight on a boom tilted to illuminate the hair, the background light, a kicker light over to the right and behind the model, two 285HVs placed behind the soda bottles to illuminate them from the back and one key light placed slightly above and to the left in front of the bottles and model. Softboxes were used on the hairlight and key light.
The shot was taken with a trusty rusty D60 at 180 at f16. ISO was 100. Lens used was a Canon 28-135 IS.
Hope you guys like it! If you have any questions just let me know. Have a great day!

only thing i noticed with the picture, is the wedding ring distracted me, along with the bracelet, but it is hiding under a shadow. great shot and setup.

It's very cool that you spent the time to set the shot up but would agree with the other guy about the wedding ring- it really centres the eye too much. Also a more pink shirt may have made a bit of difference.
I took a liberty and tried a couple of things......

Hi,
Can you tell me what model printer you used to print the label?
I am looking for a good printer that can do double duty for photos and printing labels for smaller product launches that do not warrant contracting a printing company and printing thousands of labels.
The labels I would like to print are for use on nutritional supplement bottles.

That's very cool. How many shots did you take before you decided on this one. You have a very accomodating wife.
Great job.

Krisgel,
I used a cheapo Konica Minolta color laser to output the labels. It seemed to work okay. The lables were not completely waterproof so I sprayed sealant on the labels before applying the water drops to the bottles. The model of printer is 2430DL. Hope that helps. Have a good one!
Also, thanks for everyones input and suggestions. It is greatly appreciated. Have a good one!

Very nice! Looks like ti took a lot of work for this to happen, with great results. Looks like a classic 50's ad.

Do you notice much difference with the white light reflections PS'ed out in the touched up version? Or too subtle to notice?

Reminds me of those orbits gum commercials or an old navy commercial.

Great work Joel.
I wouldn't change anything with the photo.
As far the ring ... well it's just bling.
Without the bright light on the bottles makes the photo look flat.
I realy like your portfolio
