I stopped on the side of the road today to look at a field full of Geese I immediatley noticed that this one was different from the others , when I got home I checked in my books and it looks like it's a first winter Greater White-Fronted Goose If anybody cares to confirm or correct me please do so ,, please enjoy C & C welcome and appreciated

a quick Google suggestsyou have ID'd it correctly. My bird book only has the White-Fronted Goose which is a very rare visitor to the UK from Eastern Europe- wish I could say the same about the geese you guys send over the pond!

Yes, it is common for a couple of Greater White-Fronted Geese to slip into a flock of standard Canada Geese and try to pass. One tip-off is the leg color.

What a great find, Wayne! And a good eye to spot it. Where did you see this guy??

He was in the field at the National Equestrian Park in the west end on Corkstown road must have been 1000 Geese there ,, luckily he was close to the road ,, I had the spotting scope with me and spent 20 minutes scanning the flockbesides Brants he was the only non Canada
