View Full Version : Hey, take my picture!

Was out taking some shots on a nearby high street recently. While focusing on a shop across the way, I heard a voice from behind saying - "Hey, take my picture!" I swung round and noticed this young lady walking quickly towards me. I had hardly time to put the camera to my eye before she had passed, but managed to squeeze off one picture.
I liked the spontaneity in this quick shot. Comments welcome and appreciated.

That is a great shot.... I love how happy and carefree she looks, her arms out wide depict that feeling too.

You'd pay thousands to a top fashion photographer to get a shot so natural and innocent. Outstanding job.

Tnx Maureen! She just leaned in and put her arms up like that (like a little airplane) for a moment when she saw me about to take the shot. I had literally two seconds to take the shot - luckly the autofocus locked on at the first attempt.

Outstanding... I just love spontaneous shots like this. Did you get any contact information from her to get a copy of this shot to her, OR to get a release form signed. I think this shot has commercial value.

Thanks to everyone for commenting :)
John - unfortunately I didn't get any contact details as I'd love to send her a copy. A few seconds later and she disappeared around a corner and was gone, having a laugh with a young friend (who had been walking on the other side of the street).
Over here (UK) it is not necessary to get a release form if you intend to publish a picture of someone providing the shot was taken in a public place - and you can't get much more public than a busy high street, lol.
One other thing worth mentioning - I was sitting on a bench outside these shops when I took the picture. This helped with a lower than normal viewpoint. Also, I can't be sure if I actually had the camera to my eye, it all happened so quickly it might have grabbed it by simply pointing the camera and shooting from chest level (while sitting down). Whatever, I think the lower than normal viewpoint helps here.

Great capture, nicely done. It is refreshing to meet people that love to have their picture taken. In recent years, I feel that people are increasingly reluctant about this.

chiming in it captures the spirit of youth of so well - yelling out "hey take my picture" to a stranger. great stuff.
