A hand-held pen, paper and some colours used.
No crop, no PP.
The image is captioned "Iguana In-line Skating".
The skater is the nude in order to minimize air drag.

Thanx for your input gents.
Let me clarify: some folks use a certain watercolouring feature in the Photoshop to enhance their images and give them that "painted look".
I have gone the other way around: painted the image first, and then used a digital capture to enhance it. Brilliant, eh ? ;)

So as I understand it... Instead of turning a photo into a cartoon style sketch using Photoshop you have drawn a sketch and photographed it Yeah?
Hmmmm

I think Petkal missed something in his signature on the cartoon :)

Yes David Lee, I just tried to reverse the process....kinda experimental..:D
You got me, Desertraptor, I missed a "t" in my signature on the cartoon.:o

LOL.... this whole thread has given me a good chuckle ;) Haha
I must say though that you got very good results :D Did you use a light tent? or flash? what was your set-up? I have, in the past, tried photographing my artwork... but it usually never comes out as good as a scan. :p What's your secret? ;)
PetKal

Actually, I cheated.....I scanned the darn cartoon.... I kinda suspected that trying to photograph it would have given me trouble. :D :D

I am dreadfully sorry Sir, but this is a family channel. Thus I think it would perchance be more fitting for your very interesting little confessionary post to be included in another Thread on the Lens Forum, such as "The Longest Lens for the Least Money" or "My Love is Due on Friday".

in a technical sense, scanning should be considered photography. I love the expressions on the iguanas' faces, although the presence of sweat glands troubles me.

Thanx Zacker: Talent ?......oh man, if I had talent I'd be hosting a more meaningful thread like those " My unborn baby is being dispached to me in a brown truck". BTW I have heard of Corel Draw.;)

Great photo, I trust no animals were hurt during filming and that you had the full co-operation of the participants? Did you get a release?
PetKal
19th of November 2005 (Sat), 20:13
Well BlueTit.....that's an unsavoury story.....the skater had indeed been released prior to the engagement for this photoshoot.....however, his public nudity combined with illegal lizard deployment as beasts of burden (in contravention to the Town of Sanibel Ordinance No. 143,017) has landed him back in the yellow brick house.

I hope that's in accordance with the Perfectly OK Van Act of 1943?

Granted, hosting an intensive avantgarde art workshop like this one here has exacted some toll on me......pioneering new art forms and bringing them to the people....that's a path all too often strewn with thorns.
Oh yeah, the "release"...what release ? Who says I have been released ?

I'm a little concerned for my sanity, as I write tis from inside a large waste bin.
I have recently been hanging round shops where there are large banks of TVs and felt as if I could see at last, as if my vsion had returned, althouygh I find the sudden swooshing of the cars nearby quite disconcerting.
I have an urge to move my shoulders back and forth rapidly and get a strange yet conforting buzzing in my ears.
Why am I concerned?- because I doubt I will be able to afford a separate camera for each of my eyes!

[quote=Simon king]I'm a little concerned for my sanity, as I write tis from inside a large waste bin.
I am concerned a lot about possible presence of mercury in Norfolk's domestic water supply.
Be that as it may, let us reflect on the state of photography today and the pivotal question: "Does digital encourage mediocrity in photography craft ?"
Now then, you tell me.......
I'll give you a little imaginary scenario:
A photog gets an $8,000 dSLR and a lens combo.
Takes 339 shots of his pet chicken.
Selects the best looking one and spends several hours enhancing it in Photoshop and/or equivalent.
The finished image sometimes ends up as follows:
*wacked up colours
* looks as if a chicken picture alone was pasted on top of the background
* feathers look as stiff and coarse as straw,
*chicken outline is painfully sharp.
*corn crumbs on the beak are cloned out
*it's not clear what light and what exposure prevails...looks as if the chicken was captured at one and the background at another.
*etc....you add yours...;)

All that matters is that people either find out that they have a tool for expressing their creativity or they are tools for spending so much money when they have none
The latter are fulfilling their patriotic duty by fuelling and mantaining te capitalist economy (which is nice) and the former are on the road to development (:)) of their creativity- and will reach whatever level they have the potential and time for. Without these mad expensive DSLRs I doubt there would be so much looked at by so many, so Phew!
Awakening thus the artistic side, as it does, Digitography is, I would argue , more a boon than a bane
You can quote me on that

Thanx Simon for your repeated seminal (no, that's not what I meant, Simon  !)contribution to our little workshop.
I like that nonsensical new word "Digitography"......it conjures up images of smearing muck with one's fingers on white walls in the yellow brick house.
In conclusion I suspect that if I were to say that "Hobbit" did not really exist you might find that highly offensive ?
