Hey again. I would just like to get some feedback on what everyone thinks of this photograph I took a little while ago at the Ghetty.

Thanks for looking.

I'm wondering why the picture is tilted so downwards to the left, or is that just an illusion?

The sky is essentially featureless, so there's not much you can do with that. The highlights are already blown out completely in the portions of the building that are in direct sunlight. There seems to be no open sky to light up the people or the trees.

It ends up as a silhouette. It's difficult to get excited about a silhouette, although the composition does have nice balance.

I this shot a lot.

I was at the Ghetty last year for the 150 Year of Photography exhibit and it was astounding. We had a beautiful day and a great time.

I remember this view, but, alas, did not have my camera so I could do nothing.

Like I said, I do like this shot, but I find the angle of the floor disorienting - and not in a good way. With the two buildings on either side "falling in", it is clear that a wide angle lens was used, and it seems that this crop is not from the center of the shot. I say that because it look like the floor is curving up more on the right than on the left. I could be wrong about why, but that is what I see.

If it were my shot, I would likely skew the area below in the direction indicated. Not rotate, but skew. The trees won't match up, but that wont matter. Then take the eraser brush and erase down the trunks of the non matching trees till they do match. Same with the building on the right, just erase off of the top (skewed) layer to reveal the image below.

As far as the actual subject goes, I get a lot out of it. The balance is excellent. Beyond excellent, perfect. The right 2/3rds are occupied by a very wispy and ethereal natural subject (the trees) while the left 1/3 is occupied by a pair of sturdy man made subjects (the overhang and the building). Meanwhile, humanity mills about, oblivious, as always. You could not have planned a better example of tension and balance - and some irony - if you had tried. (But you DID, on some level, recognize it when you saw it on your computer, otherwise it would have been some other photo you posted!)

Also, I like the curved framing of the roof line on the top. It gives a sense of encompassing or completeness to the shot, as if this is some world, separate and whole unto itself.

All in all, very well done.

I applaud you.
