Just waiting for the battery to charge now and then I can fill up my new 1Gb card learning my new camera :)
Coming from an EOS3000 I think there will be something of a learning curve (the manual looks mighty thick).

Cool, I did the same thing last month, upgraded from the Rebel. Bet the first thing you'll notice is the 20D is very fast. Like the mac keyboard in the background too.

Welcome to the forum :)
You've made a great start in the 20D but take your time in perusing the manual and don't try to take everything in at once. Anything you're unsure about, just as and you'll receive help here :)

It's my trusty 28-105USM f3.5-4.5, filthy and theres selotape covering the distance meter but it still works lovely
The whole crop factor thing isn't as much of a problem I thought it was gonna be, I seriously thought I would never be able to take anything close to a wide shot ever again with my lenses, but it's not so bad at 28mm.
I think I'll need to get a spare battery or two first of all, anyone got any recommendations of where to get either Canon or good 3rd party ones in the UK? I checked out Sterlingtek and they've got 2 for $20 + shipping totals about £18 in real money (:p) so maybe I'll just get those.
If the weathers not crappy tomorrow maybe I'll go to the park and get some duck pictures
Now to spend some time rearranging my Crumpler bag...
(there's just a tiffen UV filter slapped on the front, maybe my ixus p&s flash is responsible for the misty look)

Enjoy your new toy, I've had mine for about 2 weeks now and am loving it. Sterlingtek batteries seem to be the way to go. That's where I got my spares and haven't had a problem with them yet. Got them earlier this year for my 300D and they're fine in my 20D..

Grats on the cam. I fell in love with mine. Sterlingtek batteries have been perfect. Mine are 8 months old and still work like new. Speaking of which I need to order 2 more.

I should be getting my 20D next week. As far as reading the manual, I've had a copy of it for about 4 months now... Pace yourself when trying to go through it. If you try to take it all in at once it won't help much. Unless you're the type of person who could take a drink of water from a firehose of course. :P

You will really *like* this body. I also order my as "body only" but then I ordered the 17-40L because all the dealers were out of the lens I thought I wanted.
When I shot some pictures of my students running lathes in our machine shop class (hey, there is no bokeh in a machine shop:D) I was glad I bought that lens.
