We have been fortunate to pick up a pair of iphone 4s' on our recent contract upgrade.

Pleased because of the camera capabilities.

But we have some leather flip cases that obscure the screen a little.

Can anyone recommend some "budget" cases/protectors for the iphone 4s.

A case that also makes the ease of the camera use a priority?

Ones you have experience with?

I have one of the soft plastic ones I picked up at Walcrap for about $7. Works good enough that my phone, after being run over by my 7000 lb Bobcat still works.

Speck Candy shell is good. I would strongly recommend them. They are strong, grip well, and do not all too much bulk.

If you plan to throw your phone off a building, the otter box defender is good, but note, it almost triples the size of the phone!

+1 I have otter box defender for my ip4, best case I ever had. Only around $20 amazon, ebay. Don't know if they have yet for ip4s

I personally don't use a case cause it'll cover the whole design. If the phone gets dirty/scratched, it's time to get a new one....

Of course, if you don't mind paying the full price to replace it, you can flirt with the danger of dropping it. I hated to cover mine up also, because they are just so beautiful, but they are so slippery and I've seen so many of them smashed by a simple drop on the floor... Just in our family alone we have managed to terminally injure 5 of them in the past 2 years, not through abuse but through "use." It isn't about protecting from dirt and scratches. As gorgeous as these things are, and despite their claims of "gorilla glass", they are fragile and cases do help.

Actually, we killed 4 iphone 4 models and only one 4s, but I think the design didn't change. The 4s was the most recent of course and my husband owned it for less than 48 hours. Luckily, they replaced it for $150 at the Apple store and sold him a case.

lol.

I ended up getting a cheap Ebay case and screen...

I tried a leather fold over but it blocked the keypad.

If your buying a case to protect the phone you may as well spend the money and getting the otterbox defender

I have them on my 4s and ipad
And had one on my 3gs too (and it protected it for 2 years)

The first time you drop the phone from a height it will have paid for itself
And having a phone in good condition will be worth more when you go to sell it later on

Another vote for Otterboxes - Doing the work I do and the places I go, they have saved my phones more than once.

Yep, when it's time to upgrade I sell my existing iphone on ebay. For example when I sold my iphone 3G to get the 4, I put the 3G on ebay and got $350 and the upgrade was around $200, so I actually make money on the upgrade. You would be amazed at how much the phones are worth without a contract... And of course it was in perfect condition thanks to the otterbox.

Otterbox Defender. Had one on my 3g for 2yrs and dropped it countless times on concrete/asphalt, in shallow puddles, etc. Never affected the phone and sold the phone for nearly as much as I originally paid for it when I upgraded to the 4s as it looked "as new". Needless to say, the 4s went into an Otterbox from day 1. The holster for the 4s model is far superior to the 3g/s model.

I also use the Magpul case for vacation/travel and sometimes use an iFrogz case. www.ifrogz.com when I don't want the bulky "super case" look of the Otterbox.

I'll second the Speck Candyshell case. I really like mine, it's covering all sides except the front, but has some depth to the front, where if you drop it face down, still some protection.

I also have the Otterbox case, and don't like how it fits on the phone. The case is made of a stiff rubber, which is great since it doesn't pick up lint but it is harder to access some of the controls.

Use the magpul as well. Light, thin, slides into your pocket nicely. Perfect for if you want to keep your phone as small as possible, but still have some scratch protection.

I love the Otter Box! Make sure you get the Defender one.
