Hi folks,
I've got a Sigma 28-300 Asph. Macro Lens. Bought it brand new. It seems to have a problem functioning
on my D30. The pics often just don't turn out sharp.
I was wondering if the lens itself had such bad optics or
if it just ain't adjusted properly in order to work with the D30. Should I sell it and buy a Canon lens?

A lot of people on this forum would say get a Canon.
I think though that the Sigma is a fine lens. (I've used the 28-200 on my 10D and was very pleased with it)
Can you borrow another lens to see how that performs. It is possible to get a bad one. You may even be able to bring the lens to the store and swap it for another of the same and see how that turns out.

Thanks :)
..and your welcome :)
By the way,.. all the photos on my site were taken with the 10D and Sigma lenses... I was going to try and buy all Canon,. but so far the three lenses I have ended up Sigmas.
28-300mm (was 28-200mm, but I "upgraded") for the record I think the 28-200 was little better.
70-200mm
50-500mm

i'm thinking of buying the sigma 28-70 F2.8. good lens?
i'd buy the 50-500 but too big and too expensive.

good thing you're satisfied with your sigma products. i have a sigma EF 500 Super flash. Seems to be alright up to now. But i am not sure if i will ever buy a sigma lens again... i've tested a sigma sa-7 as well and was not blown away at all. really not bad, but can't compete with
nikon or canon bodies.
my bro used to have a sigma sa 500 slr with two pretty expensive apo lenses. one of the lenses had dirt between the two front glasses and the camera produced
lots of blurry images - maybe due to the crappy autofocus.
all in all, to me, sigma doesn't have a good quality control... and the products aren't convincing.
